But doing so would require another questionable decision.Not to mention it will most likely be a suicide mission.Jan Kotouč is a writer of military sci-fi and space opera. He was born in Prague, Czech Republic, and published his first novel, Pokračování diplomacie (Continuation of Diplomacy) in 2009.

Since then, Jan has written five additional novels in the critically acclaimed Hirano series and is now regarded as one of the leading Czech military sci-fi authors. His novel Tristanská občanská válka (Tristan Civil War, 2011) received an Aeronautilus Award for book of the year. In 2012, he received an Encouragement Award from the European Science Fiction and Fantasy Association, which is given to promising newcomers.

Jan happily lists David Weber and Timothy Zahn among authors who had the biggest influence on his own writing.The novella Command Decision was written as a prequel to the first of Jan’s Hirano novels and published in 2013 in XB-1 magazine in cooperation with Poutnik Publishing House. This short story was subsequently translated into English and is Jan’s first entry to the English-speaking market.
